Add sharing options and make easy to find friends.
I can't find a way to search by username for my friend. I don't have it hooked up to Facebook yet but friend suggestions would be nice too if they're not already there. And a share button on a beer if you want to share a beer with a specific friend that will notify them.
1 voteHi! You can search for your friend by username or display name from the top search bar on the website, or from the home page search on the mobile app(s). When you search there, you’ll see results matching beers, breweries, and citizens. We hope this helps you find your friends.
For sharing beers, you can currently share beers on Facebook or Twitter. On the website, you’ll see the buttons near the top right of a beer profile page. On the mobile apps, you can click the starburst with the + sign at the top right of the beer profile screen to get to the sharing tools.
As for what the future holds, we definitely plan to expand the social side of things. Friend suggestions and in-app messaging/sharing are great ideas, and on our radar.
Please keep any suggestions and questions coming, and thanks for using Beer Citizen. Cheers!

it would be nice to mark beer in time as a beerline...
3 votesHi Marc-Andre. If you mean being able to view the beers you’ve reviewed in order by when you reviewed them, that’s on the way. We’ll soon be adding a feature to let you sort your reviews by a variety of filters, including date. Thanks, and cheers!

Ask Biz Markie to "TuneUp" beer entries.
See dual Sierra Nevada Pale Ale entries (both showing zero reviews).
Yes, I know you know about this problem already. And yes, I just like to give you guys shit.1 vote -
Add a forum to trade beers and rate users who participate
Add a forum to discuss new beers, breweries, and maybe trade beers and rate users who participate..
1 voteWe trade beers fairly often around here, and certainly see the potential for this. We have a lot we’re working on involving the review data that’s coming in, but this feature is something we’ll consider on the longer-term roadmap. Cheers!

Top rated beers... now by citizen.
Its great to have the top rated beers list.
Now, it would be nice if you could see the top rated beers in the profile of each citizen.
This way, you can see the personal top rated list of each citizen and keep your list sorted.3 votesAgreed… this is on our to-do list.

how to claim a brewery
I am one of the owners of Lefty's Brewing Company and I'm trying to claim it so I can make adjustments to what's listed on the page, and add beers. I want to change the listing to remove the phrase "homebrew" as we are a legal brewery, and not a home brewery at all. I'd also like to change the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout to be listed as a stout, not a cream ale. Thanks!
1 voteHi Melissa! Thanks for contacting us. The page ownershop and moderation tools you’re asking for are on our roadmap. In the meantime, we’ve made the corrections you’ve asked for, and you can already add more beers via the website or app. On the website, there’s an “add beer” button on the brewery page. On the mobile apps, you’ll find a link to add a beer by tapping the plus icon on the top right when looking at your brewery page. Again, thanks for reaching out, and let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help out. We hope to encounter some of your beers one day. Cheers!

add a 'Golden Ale' and a 'Red / Ruby Ale' to beer types
'Pale ale' or 'Bitter' doesn't cover these types of beers. Could you add these extra types to the 'Enlish Beers' menu?
Thanks,
Mike

Ability to scan bar codes
Your format and layout I believe top Pintley (which is still a solid app). Still a little slow and glitchy... But so far so good. Love how you can import own pics! The thing Ratebeer app has going for it is the scan bar code feature. Doesn't work all the time, but is nice to have. This is the one want from me... Anything else is a bonus. Nice job!
8 votesThanks for the feedback! A barcode scanner would indeed be awesome, and is on our wish list. There are some technical issues we’ll need to work out to make it happen, but it’s on the roadmap. That said, there are some other cool toys that we’ll be focusing on first, which we think you’ll dig. Glad you like the app, keep the feedback coming, and cheers!

Add the ability to edit beer details.
Can you add the ability to edit beer details? I only added the A/V% when I added a beer thinking I could edit the others on when I worked them out, but I realised I couldn't.
4 votesAbsolutely on the docket… at the very least we’ll be implementing a method for citizens to report errors or omissions for a beer, but there are a host of other content moderation tools on our roadmap. In the meantime, feel free to alert us to any errors or omissions through this feedback mechanism, or by email to support@beercitizen.com and we’ll be more than happy to make the edits for you. Cheers!

Integration of Foursquare check-in
I like the ability to track the pubs I have been too through Foursquare as well. Otherwise fantastic app. I have official jumped from Beerby.

Labels for images
Love the app! Get better images of beer labels. It's hard to see some of the photos people submit... It will make it easier to identify beers and make the site more homogenous :) Cheers!
1 voteWe certainly wish there was a way to do this quickly, but it’s a manual process, and a big undertaking for several thousand beers. As more citizens add photos for any given beer (which can be zoomed in on for clarity), it’s easier to see more details from more angles, see changes in label art that happen with brand redesigns, and more easily recognize the bottle itself, which is sometimes a distinguishing factor. All that said, we’re adding more and more label art whenever we find the time, ’cause we like it too. Cheers!

From the beer in your cooler suggest other beers that have similar characteristics to try
As you add beers to your cooler the program looks for other beer that are similar to suggest you try. I know when I am away from home it is sometimes hard to pick a local beer that I like.
1 voteWe’ve gotten to the point where there’s enough beer review data to start offering suggestions! Today we launched a new version of the iOS/Android apps and updated the site with a new similar beers finder. Now, when you look at a beer’s profile, you can click the Similar button. If there’s enough review data to pull from, the app will recommend other beers similar to that one that you may enjoy. Hope it helps you discover some great new beers. Cheers!

Ability to review/check into a beer event
My name is Scott Bellisario (username: ufallome / Scotty B). I'm a huge craft beer lover and user of your app/site. I'm also in social media and I'm working with the organizer of Sacramento Beer Week on their 4th annual event for 2013 (2/22/13-3/3/13). You can check out their website (which we are going to redesign for them) here: http://sacramentobeerweek.com .
I'm interested in the ability for users to 'check in' & review this great week long beer event in California's Capitol City.
Next year being the 5th anniversary, we would like to get people used to using your app/site…
1 voteHi Scott, thanks for contacting us! It’s an exciting idea, and we’re discussing how best to go about this. We’ll follow up by email soon to discuss some possibilities.

Add a "buy it here" feature
Allow reviewers to identify local beer shops where they purchased the beer. That would allow those of us in smaller markets to identify how far we might have to travel to find a product.
3 votesHopefully one day we’ll be able do this, but coming up with data for which beers are available at which bar/retailer is a monumental task. Hopefully one day we can sort that out, but for now, we’re focusing on building new features using data from review like yours (which are great, by the way). Sorry for taking so long to officially reply to this, by the way, it slipped through the cracks ;)

This feature actually is available on the desktop website, but we agree it would be a useful feature on the mobile web and app verisons… we’ll work on finding an intuitive way to include such functionality.

Not many breweries provide this information, so we’re focusing on the more common stats (SBV, OG, SRM, FG), but we’ll look into it, and if the information is available for enough beers, we’ll certainly consider adding a field for it. Thanks!

Shelftags
Similar to RateBeer's selftags - I think it would be awesome if distributors or beer managers at retail locations could utilize the information on Beer Citizen to help customers, especially new, get a grasp of what they're buying.
3 votesWe have some plans in the work for thins like this. It’s probably not our immediate priority (other new site features are taking the front seat, now that the iOS/Android apps are done), but we definitely want to start applying beer data in applications like this. Thanks!

Rating
Need to clarify some ratings such as clearness and watery. Can't decide to rate something high or low if it looks like water with yellow food coloring.
4 votesWe are working on a glossary section, which we’ll be using to define not only the suggested traits, but also many of the more common custom traits entered by citizens

when adding a beer on the mobile site, put the US at the top of the county list.
Since most craft breweries, and I'm assuming users, reside in the United States, it only makes sense to give it easy access.
7 votesWe can see how this would save time, and just need to sort out a couple implementation quirks. For example, there are a handful of other countries that get picked often when adding breweries (Belgium and Germany come to mind) so it’s a matter of how popular a country should be to be in the short list at the top of the menu… maybe a top 5 or something. We hope to figure this out soon, as making things easy is a top goal for us.

Implement a reward system for participation
Sure it seems typical of systems like this to implement some sort of reward system for lets say reviewing XX number of beers, but psychologically it works. Someone who's reviewed 300 beers as opposed to 600 has no incentive except for the love of this particular site to keep pushing forward. Maybe 5, 10 or 15 different badges, titles, levels just something to distinguish members. I believe I saw earlier an actual t-shirt prize giveaway which is epic, so good on ideas like that.
